Fish on bbq

Hi Rabbi,
I cooked fish on the bbq using a grill mat (none of the fish touches the bbq). the bbq was previously used for meat and not cleaned (there is black all over the bbq grates from before the fish). Is the fish considered parve?

If the fish never touches the grates, or the barbecue is not used within the last 24 hours, then it is parve.
