forgetting a child in a car

Every year approx 37 children die from being left in a car. A large percentage of these deaths are due to parents or caregivers having an alternate schedule that day and failing to remember their child in the car.

Is it too excessive to worry to such an extent to do something drastic such as leaving a left shoe in the backseat when driving with a child as to prevent forgetting them in the car, or is that something that should be implemented

thank you

I don’t understand how it is possible to leave a child in a car. I leave my keys in the house when I head to the car and at times I can’t find my phone. But leaving a child in a car is a sign of a much bigger problem.
