Matlow’s hard candy- licorice flavor: Ingredients: Sugar, Glucose syrup, salt, flavoring colors: ammonia caramel
Allergen Information: Processed in a facility that also processes Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Wheat, Soy and Milk products
This is not kosher for Pesach. It seems that after further research the glucose syrup may contain wheat, even though the allergy statement does not reflect that. @audadj
It always pays to be careful, but in the USA glucose is not from wheat.
The allergy label says, “Allergen Information: Processed in a facility that also processes Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Wheat, Soy and Milk products”.
We are currently in discussions with Matlow, as the allergy label is pretty clearly showing that the glucose is not wheat. We used that as an indicator. I believe there is a mistake on their packaging. We will keep you posted.
Companies make mistakes every once in a while. We have confronted others in the past. They fix the problem immediately if it’s actually a mistake, or they explain why it is not.
I wouldn’t assume glucose is ok from foreign products, but allergy labels are normally very reliable, as they risk very serious lawsuits
