It may be a problem. This usually contains alcohol, and that alcohol might contain grain.
It doesn’t say alcohol in the ingredients. All it has is propylene glycol (not sure what that is). Any of the other ingredients can be a problem?
Also it says it’s made in a gluten-free environment. Does that mean anything?
Vanilla extract must contain alcohol. Alcohol can be from grain and still be considered gluten free. When the extract is at the end of the ingredients panel, after some other ingredient that is clearly not a large amount, meaning that the extract is only a small ingredient, then the grain in the alcohol is batel (rendered irrelevant). In this case there is a good chance of having a significant amount of alcohol, and therefore until we can identify its source, we recommend that you don’t eat it.
I’ll call the company to make sure but the common cheap vanilla extract in Israel is really called baking extract with vanilla flavoring. In the picture I sent above the ingredients are (translating from Hebrew): water, flavorings, propylene glycol, caramel coloring E150.
Shouldn’t it say alcohol if it has? I’ll find out when they answer me
Ok thx
I called the company here in Israel & they said there’s no alchohol in the vanilla flavored extract
Lol. In the USA you cannot call it vanilla extract without alcohol.
