Problem with Cumin?

I have been told that there is a problem with cumin this year, and that at least one Israeli rabbi forbade it. I remember hearing this about 10 years ago, and you said it was not a concern. Has anything changed? We use Israeli cumin.

Cumin itself is for sure not a problem. It’s a spice. Possibly in Israel they add Wheat to it for some reason and forget to mention it on the ingredient panel. I wouldn’t be worried in USA

The claim is that it comes from India, and sometimes has bits of wheat mixed in. Rav Amar spoke out on it in 2005, and now again. Can I assume that 1. It;s a false rumor. and 2. In any case, cumin from an Israeli company (Pereg) would conform to U.S. labeling laws?

Yes. If it’s sold in the US, it needs to conform to US laws. Nothing to worry about
