"Alexa", Echo, Etc

I find I’m relying more and more on “Alexa” for information, timers, reminders, and to turn things on and off. Can you offer some guidance? I assume that if I tell “Alexa” to turn on the lights, it’s the same as me flicking the light switch. But can I set up “Alexa” on Friday to remind me to take my medication on Saturday? Or turn on the lights? It may sound silly, but since there’s a “voice” it feels really different than setting a reminder on my phone or other device. Thanks.

Yes

Or turn on the lights.

Yes.

Thanks!

Just to clarify, you can ask Alexa to turn off lights on shabbat?

No. You can ask Alexa before shabbat to turn on a light for you on shabbat. It’s no different than a shabbos clock.

You cannot ask Alexa on shabbat to turn on a light for you on shabbat.

I knew the answer just wanted to clarify as turning on or off the lights isn’t something one would remind themselves to do on shabbat (as asked on the first original post).
