From other posts on Ohel Torah, it seems likely that you would consider Wegmans Organic Brown Rice Noodles to be kosher. The package lists only one ingredient: organic brown rice. It also states, “Product of Thailand”. But the wider Internet reveals controversy about this seemingly simple product of brown rice noodles (or rice noodles in general). One source originally said rice noodles don’t need a hechsher…and then a few years later they reversed their opinion and said that they do need supervision. Another source says the problem with rice noodles may not be the ingredients, but rather a possible issue of bishul akum. What is your view? Is it enough to just look at the ingredients (or, in this case, the one listed ingredient) or is there more to it than that? Thanks for your comments.
