Cast Iron Pot Covered in Enamel Not Used In A Year

I have a few expensive cast iron pots covered in enamel (porcelain/glass) that I have not used in over a year (they were used for kosher meat over a year ago). Can I (i) use it on Pesach without doing anything? or (ii) kashur it myself with halagah?

If the enamel is intact, no need to kasher it.
If it is not intact, throw out the pot. They’re actually unhealthy when the enamel is removed.

Does this mean that anything that hasn’t been used in over a year does not need Kashering for Pesach?

Thanks so much,

Chanan

No. The reason why it’s ok is because the smooth hard finish prevents food from being absorbed into the pot.

Thank you. I have a large roaster with an enamel covered insert and an aluminum lid that I haven’t used in 4 years. While the insert , I understand is not a problem, is there an easier way to Kasher the lid , which is enamel on the outside and aluminum on the inside and is extremely large?

Am I correct that you are using this pot on the stove top?

Is it also intended for use in the oven?

I’m sorry I was unclear. It is a 22 qt. electric roaster; like a huge crock pot but with enamel covered metal insert insert and aluminum lid. Just sits on the counter.

Just fill with water, turn it on high and conver the pot. Wait a few minutes after the water reaches boiling point and your good to go.

Thank you so much
