The OU and other kashrus agencices make a big to do about ethyl acetate in decaf coffee, “which is derived from either kitniyot or chometz.” I see the rabbi sees no problem. Can you help me understand why there is no need to worry about it?
It’s a trace ingredient. Probably less than even a millionth of a percent. The typical Hashgachas don’t follow the Halachah regarding bitul, as a matter of policy.

I’m sure that the typical kashrut businesses know the Halachah of bitul. They might have decided to ignore those halachos due to the pushback and hundreds of calls that they would get if for example they put a kosher for Pesach label on something that has less than 2% corn syrup.
