Dressing differently as a Jew

Some people today dress very similar to non-Jews with ripped jeans and t-shirts with who knows what printed on it and so on.
I’m wondering what the Rav holds about dressing different than non-Jews. Like it was said in Egypt that the Jews didn’t change their names, their language, and their dress. Would we be required to maintain a different dress code and not look like non-Jews.

The concept of dressing different than non-Jews or having different names and language does not apply today. That was a way for them to stay away from the idol worshipping crowds before the giving of the Torah. Once the Torah was given, we follow the Torah and that particular concept is not in the Torah.
However basic laws of modesty and chukot Ha’akum do apply.

Chukot HaAkum Issues with clothing is not common today, though. There needs to be an Akum component. It needs to have a specific Idol worship connection. In places like India where there’s idol worship, there may be an issue with certain clothing.

While the previous post is all correct and true the Rav has always maintained that one should name his children with a Hebrew name. Additionally the child should be called by the name given (ie hebrew name)

As to your question about clothing the gemarah states and the Rav has ruled that a Torah Jew should not be seen with a stain on his clothing as we represent the Torah we follow. All the more so regarding torn and degrading clothing.
