Electric Kettle

Hi,

Can I use an electric tea kettle on Shabbat if it’s on a timer?

Thanks

Yes

So you can set a timer to heat up cold water on shabat?

Yes.

This is an old thread, and please excuse me if I should start new. I’m wondering if this same principle could be applied to an electric burner that you put cold soup on, and it comes on with a timer to warm it (to boiling, even). I’ve always understood water and other liquids to be treated the same for Shabbat warming.

Same. Only if the burner is off and cold when putting the pot on it and then afterwards the timer turns on the burner.
