Extra item sent to me

L’chvod Harav,

I made a purchase from an on-line national retailer. They sent me 2 of an item and I only ordered one. The item is large and weighs about 50 lbs. I was not charged for the duplicate shipment. UPS left the items at my door so I couldn’t refuse delivery of the extra item. I went online to try to send back the extra item, the retailer provides a shipping return label but in order to return the item I need to take it to a shipper, which is not easy given the size and weight of the item. Apparently they won’t provide pickup of the item. What is the Halacha? How much effort do I need to extend to return this item?

None. It is not your responsibility. You cant use it if they want it back, but you can tell them you simply do not have the time and it is not you responsibility to shlep their mistake to a shipper.
