if you use an oven for meat and dairy, can you place food directly on the oven rack?
If you put food directly on the rack it would need to be kashered in between uses.
What if one just puts pareve bread directly on oven rack (by itself in the oven), but in general neither meat nor dairy is placed directly on rack (but we have alternated the oven between meat and dairy without koshering in between since neither was going directly on rack); in such a case, (excluding Pesach):
- May I assume placement of the bread directly on racks does not trigger need to kosher the over?
- Is the bread a problem to eat for having been on such racks before running e.g. a self-clean cycle?
3)Also, may such bread be eaten if the racks were not toveled?
The bread is kosher and may be eaten.
However the racks need to be toveled before its used again
