Food Shailahs surrounding Non-Shomer Shabbat Jews

I had an interesting discussion with someone, and I was wondering if the Rabbi had anything to say on the matter:

  1. if a non-observant Jew lights the pilot light of a stove or oven, does that make the food cooked by him subject to bishul akum?

  2. is the wine touched by a non-observant Jew subject to stam yaanum?

Thank you

  1. No
  2. Yes

Why one and not the other? Don’t they both have the same issue of “chasanut”?

The laws pertaining to wine of a non-jew are generally stricter. There’s another reason for Stam Yeinam besides intermarriage. It’s the concern that the wine may have been used for some form of idol worship.

If I am not mistaken, the Rav holds that wine is only a problem when poured and not when only touched. Is this correct?

If the actual wine was touched (not the bottle) that would be a problem
