Garlic soaked in Beer?

There is a rumor circulating that seems ridiculous, claiming that garlic imported from China has been soaked in beer, and is therefore hametz. I wouldn’t even ask about it, but this issue is causing strife in my extended family. I suspect that this rumor originates from the same people who told us in the 1960s that Teflon is embedded with lard, and golden toe socks are shaatnez, and who told us in the 1980s that Corona beer contains wine. Do you know anything definitive on this?

We have Google. I couldn’t find a source for that. Maybe Alexis or Siri can help
