Halacha For Drinking Wine After Kiddush

I hope you’re well! Growing up, my dad would make Kiddush and then pour some of the Kiddush wine into little cups for my mom, my brother, and I. My husband grew up with this minhag also. We’ve been to other people’s homes where everyone has their own wine or grape juice and drinks that after hearing Kiddush. Would you be able to tell me what the actual Halacha is? Is it just a minhag to drink the wine that the person makes Kidddush over?

Thank you!

Many people prefer to drink kiddush from the same cup that kiddush was made on, due to its status of kos shel bracha. But the Halacha is clear that one could and should include all the wines on the table under his bracha. As a result it is not necessary to drink from that one cup as all the wines (even those in different bottles) that are on the table are considered kos shel bracha.

Many times when sitting at the Ravs table, this was his custom.
