Item in dairy or meat status clean plastic container overnight

Hi !

I recall learning in school that if something pareve sits overnight in a fridge in a plastic meat status container for example , it retains status of the container and can’t be eaten with dairy.

  1. Is this true with container that’s been used for meat / dairy within 24 hours ?

  2. If container hasn’t been used in 24 hours for meat/ dairy is it an issue lchatchilah ?
