Hi can I use a meat hot plate for dairy if I cover it with aluminum foil?

If I always put the fleishig food on a pan and never directly on my hot plate, can I use it for dairy without covering in foil if the dairy is in a pan or dish?

You have a hotplate that you use to keep food warm for example.

You use it sometimes to warm up meat by placing the pan with meat inside it on to the hot plate.

Now you want to warm up dairy foods in a pan by placing the pan onto this hot plate?

That is fine. It’s no different than using the same stove top to cook dairy or meat.

The issue would be if you place food directly onto the hotplate and not inside a pan on top of the hot plate.
