For many years I lived with the impression that I must hustle to grab a drink from the Shabbat MORNING kiddush, if I was not the one making the kiddush. I thought that was the sock of the Raff.
Then, in recent years, my brother calls the Rabbi and he is told that only the Mekadesh needs to drink whether nighttime kiddush or daytime kiddush!!
Which is the truth?
It’s preferred but not required.
the Mekadesh does not need to drink either, as long as someone who heard Kiddush is drinking
