We are moving into a new house tomorrow, so there will be no chametz in our possession. Is there a need to have a Rabbi sell our chametz in such a circumstance? The only conceivable issue would be chametz that is either absorbed into pots and utensils and/or attached to them or small amounts deep inside a couch or something that would be otherwise nullified.
No need to sell. You would still do Bedikat Chametz even if you don’t have Chametz.
Good luck with everything!
Thank you! Any concern about our regular dishes? I know there is a machlokes about the need to sell them at all at Pesach. While I’m not not a follower of Chabad, I went to their shuls for years out of necessity and they have a stringency to do so. Ours have been in storage and unused since December.
Unless you’ve taken upon yourself this custom you’re not locked in. No issue with the dishes.
I have never taken it on with intention, but in the past have sold through Chabad who do so. It was certainly never my intention though.
You’re fine to skip the selling.
