Can we use a serving spoon with holes on Shabbos/YomTov which will let liquid through and retain the solid stuff in the spoon?
If the intention is to strain the food then it’s not ok.
I remember once we were eating with the Rav and we were served a food that had some liquid so they provided a spoon with holes. The Rav said that the person who brought the spoon cannot use it because their intention is to strain it. But for the rest of us at the table that didn’t care about removing the liquid can use the spoon.
