Stevia and other extracts

Several years ago, I asked about Stevia, and was told not to use it, as it is extracted with alcohol. Indeed, I called several companies and asked the medium of extraction. Some told me that the alcohol is derived from wheat. My question is that since no taste of the alcohol remains, and has presumably evaporated,is it really still a problem? And if so, why are we lenient on other herbal extracts, such as are found in tea and sucking candies? Tizku L’Mitzvot!

I don’t recall saying Stevia was a problem, although it’s possible the question was asked when we didn’t have time to research it.
Many times we do not approve a product simply because we did not do sufficient research. We need to be sure before we post that something is ok.
You are certainly correct that if there is no flavor left from the wheat it should be ok.
