We recently bought a water softener for our house, and the company installed it yesterday. However, the model water softener they showed us is not the same as what they installed. The system they installed is electrical, and since I did not see this model I’m not certain what the electrical component does. It is specifically the AquaLife brand made by Westinghouse. All of our indoor plumbing necessarily goes through the system now. Is there anything we can do to make it mutar to use our indoor plumbing on Shabbat?
I don’t know how your specific system works, but it seems like many water softeners filter the water on intervals. As the tank empties, the filtration process runs.
This means that turning on the faucet doesn’t necessarily result in the electric filter kicking into action. (Similar to opening a fridge)
