What's the deal with vinegars?

I’m kind of confused as to which vinegars aren’t kosher for Passover and when an item just says “vinegar,” how do we know which type it is referring to?

If you’re not sure just post it here.
Plain “vinegar” is fine. Apple cider vinegar is fine.
Distilled vinegar may be an issue, but if listed as a third ingredient or afterwards, it’s fine too.

Vinegar alone as an ingredient is not a problem, with other adjectives such as “Distilled Vinegar” or “Distilled White Vinegar” it may be a problem. Best thing is to reach out to the company directly and ask where they source their vinegar from. Let us know what they say. Thanks
