Frozen fish skinless (Pollock, Cod, Haddock, Sole etc.)

Not a Pesach question nor about the additives/glaze. Most frozen fish fillets in supermarkets are skinless. Manufacturers are required by the 2004 amendment (21 CFR U.S.C. 343(w)(2)) to specify the market name of the fish species on the packaging.[1] If it names a kosher fish, does that suffice?

For example: [2]
Great Value Wild Caught Boneless Skinless Alaskan Pollock Fillets, 4.2 lb.
Ingredients: Alaska Pollock, Water, Contains 2% or Less of: Potato Starch, Sodium Alginate, Baking Soda, Calcium Chloride, Rosemary Extract.
Contains: Alaskan Pollock
PRODUCT OF UNITED STATES.

Thanks.

that product is ok

Can one buy frozen tuna without skin from any store?

Is the main reason due to mirtat and uman lo mareh umnato?

No you may not buy frozen tuna without skin because we don’t know if it’s really tuna

Even in a developt country witch has standards of health and regulations? (FDA)

Seems to be conflicting responses on this post.

Would that be the case even in a factory setting? Can we not rely on the enforcement of Federal laws in that case?

Please see this post for some more information.

I will clarify the seemingly contradictory responses shortly.

Yes I just confirmed with Rabbi Yitzchok Abadi Shlita

Thank you all!

Please clarify what the Rav confirmed. Is factory processed fish permitted or forbidden?

Forbidden because we don’t know what fish it ready is

Any clarification?

Not yet. We are doing research to better understand the issues brought forth by Oceana.

Has there been an update with this ?

We’re looking into this currently. Check back in a month or so if you don’t hear anything.

Hi any update?

We still haven’t been able to reach a conclusion. The lack of regulation in this area makes it difficult to make assumptions

Can some show the Rav the Shu”t Chelkat Yaakov 3:10? There he allows tuna from factories based of Uman Lo Mara Umnato. Seems like the sevara would apply to all pre packaged frozen fish.

The Oceana studies seem to be referring to local stores and not factories.

Would love to hear the pesak of the Rebbe.

Thanks
